Putting South Africans back in control of their power.
Sunpura is the home-battery brand of Novgen ESS, entering South Africa with all-in-one energy storage. As tariffs keep climbing, we want to make storing your own power simple, safe and affordable.
The brand and who is behind it
Sunpura is the consumer brand of Novgen ESS, an energy-storage manufacturer. In Africa, Sunpura is distributed by JoJo Energy B.V., the accountable distributor for the region. That means one clear line of responsibility from the factory through to the installer and the home.
What makes the product different
Every Sunpura home battery is all-in-one: the inverter, battery and management are built into a single unit. The hybrid models take solar directly through their own MPPT inputs, and the AC-coupled models take solar through a micro-inverter on the off-grid terminal, so they retrofit onto a system that already has an inverter. There is no separate inverter to source and warranty, fewer parts to go wrong, and a faster, cleaner install. The range runs from 2.4 kWh up to 8 kWh, and most models stack to a larger capacity in the same footprint.
Engineering and certification
The batteries use lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) cells, chosen for safety and long cycle life, with a 10-year warranty on the home battery range and IP65 protection. The range carries European and international certification (CE/EMC, RED, LVD, CB, RoHS, REACH, UN38.3, WEEE, VDE 4105, EN 50549 and more), and Sunpura was recognised with a EUPD Research Top Innovation award in 2025. We publish that certification as CE and CB, and we claim no South African approval.
